CIVIL WAR CHRONICLES - Important Cutting Information!!
We appreciate your interest in our Civil War Chronicles BOM program, the second in our Civil War series. As one of the many pattern & construction improvements we implemented with this program, you'll find that Homestead Hearth includes three options for cutting and piecing the blocks, to give customers a variety of methods while also keeping the kit cost affordable and minimizing fabric waste. When yardage was calculated for the quilt, measurements were based on these three options:
  1. Traditional rotary cutting
  2. Quick piecing tricks including two-for-one triangles and easy square-in-a-square units
  3. The use of Thangles piecing papers

Other triangle papers such as Triangles on a Roll feature triangles laid out side-by-side. Some of the yardages provided may not accommodate the width needed for these other papers. As an alternative, we suggest that you either cut the triangle papers apart so you have a single column of triangles to work with, or use one of the other methods recommended above.

Of course, every quilter has his and her own method for doing things, so if you prefer to use a construction method other than those listed, please be sure to adjust your yardages accordingly.

...and for the CHRONICLES Backing - You Spoke, and We Listened!
For our longarm quilters and retailers who are creating the Civil War Chronicles quilt (or other large-size quilts), we've come up with a quick and easy backing solution, our new QUILT BACK 60"! This new width allows you to back a quilt up to approximately 116" wide by simply piecing two lengths of backing with a single center seam. This generous width is also perfect for finishing quilts up to 56" wide with a single length! And we think you'll love it for home décor accents to coordinate with your quilt design.

Available Fall 2010 in your local quilt shop!
