Dolores Smith and Sarah Maxwell opened Homestead Hearth in
September 2002, after many years of traveling to quilt shows and
visiting quilt shops along the way. The design duo says that the
reality of owning the shop and its many related experiences has
far exceeded their dreams.
Under the Homestead Hearth name, they have designed numerous
quilts for International Quilt Market and created patterns for
various fabric manufacturers. They are regular contributors to
McCall's Quilting and Quick Quilts magazines, as well as other
top quilting publications.
Dolores and Sarah introduced the Homestead Hearth pattern line
in May 2009. Homestead Hearth has partnered with Marcus on
various projects, most recently the highly successful Civil War
Tribute Block of the Month program, featuring fabrics by Judie
Rothermel. Their first fabric line for Marcus is FAMILY ALBUM, a
mix of traditional and more modern looks for creating keepsake
style quilts & crafts.
