"Regency T-Stars" Quilt by Vicki Bellino of Bloom Creek

Vicki Bellino of Bloom Creek brings us this gorgeous T-Star quilt, worked up in the REGENCY COLLECTION III by Judie Rothermel & The New England Quilt Museum. It not only shows off all of the prints, but provides ample open space to showcase your best hand or machine quilting skills! When it's finished, be sure to see Vicki's expert tips for creating a great quilt label, too!Regency T-Stars Quilt by Vicki Bellino of Bloom Creek

      Cut seven, 1-1/2” strips; piece together and cut two, 59” lengths and two, 68” lengths (outer border)
  • Triangle/Sawtooth Print:
    • Cut off sawtooth strips 1/4” from each side of sawtooth triangle line length of fabric, for a 3-1/4” wide border;
      cross-cut two 59” and two 68” lengths for middle border.
    • Cut two, 2-1/4” strips length of fabric to total approx. 300” for binding.
      Piece together remainder of triangle print for backing.

Making the T-Blocks:

With right sides together, layer a 2” print square on one end of a 2” x 5” muslin rectangle as shown in Diagram A. Stitch on drawn line, trim and press to print. Repeat these steps, layering 2” print square as shown in Diagram B. Make 97 each of the A and B units.

With right sides together, stitch one A unit and one B unit to each side of a 2” x 5” rectangle of same print as shown in Diagram C. Make four of each print. (You will only need a total of 97.)

Putting It Together:

Alternating muslin connector squares and T-blocks, stitch together fifteen rows, rotating T-blocks in each row as shown below. Press to connector squares. Stitch 1-1/4” x 59” muslin strips to inside of 59” sawtooth strips. Stitch 1-1/2” muslin strips to outside of sawtooth strips and stitch to top and bottom of quilt. Repeat for side borders stitching the 68” muslin strips to each side of the 68” sawtooth strips as described for top and bottom borders. Stitch a 5” muslin square to each end and stitch to quilt, pressing to border.
